Welcome to Downtown Ecumenical Services Council! Most people call us DESC (sounds like “desk”) – it’s a lot easier to say. We help families and individuals struggling to choose between shelter, food, electricity or clothing. A faith-based organization, DESC uplifts families and individuals in real-time crisis. Our dedicated staff and volunteers, through the generosity of our donors, offer neighbors a helping hand during hardship.

Located in downtown Jacksonville, DESC is in the basement of the First Presbyterian Church and has an onsite Food Pantry and Clothing Center. DESC also offers Emergency Financial Assistance, Case Management and Work Boots.
