Valerie and her family immigrated from Germany to Connecticut. The weather was too cold for them there and they could not keep up with electric bills on her husband’s salary. When they moved to Florida, paying bills became harder after her husband lost his job. They used their income tax return to survive for a little while, but with five children to keep warm and happy it didn’t last long. After countless calls to other agencies with no luck, DESC lended them a helping hand. Now, the electric bill can be put in their name, relieving the landlord from the responsibility. Valerie said it is wonderful that good people like DESC provide help during times of great stress to so many in need.
