Meet Matthew

Matthew grew up in the system. His mother did not know who his father was and she left him with a neighbor when he was 5 and she never came back. School was a struggle for him and he eventually ended up dropping out of school in the 8th grade.

Since then he has been homeless, couch surfing at friends places and in and out of shelters. Matthew has tried everything he can from drugs and alcohol to religion, it was around 2016 that he learned about DESC and was able to get food and clothing. While he was able to receive some food from DESC it was not enough to last, so one night he was looking for food behind a restaurant and was offered a job as a dishwasher.

The dishwashing job helped Matthew to change his life for the better, since starting his new job he was able to get into a “clean house” and learn what it means to be part of a family.

Now Matthew is trying to move into an apartment with two friends. Thanks to your donations Matthew was able to get a deposit for electric to move into their own apartment.
