Ms. Jones and her 5 year old son have not had an easy life. Her father was living with them to help out financially. Unfortunately her father passed away in early January, and then two weeks later her brother and two nephews were killed in the crossfire of a gang shoot out.

If that was not enough Ms. Jones’ son was admitted to the hospital with asthma and pneumonia last month. When talking with Nancy, Ms. Jones mentioned that with all of the grief around her she has missed being connected to her church. When she was divorced the church she attended shunned her and she has felt too hurt to try another church.

Due to the financial support of donations and grants DESC was able to help Ms. Jones. We were able to help by paying off her overdue rent after she fell behind with the cost of 4 funerals and medical bills.
