Meet Pam

Pam is a mother of 3 children and is trying to get her life back on track. Four years ago, Pam was in an abusive marriage and struggled with substance abuse. Because of the history of abuse her ex-husband has full custody and her mother in law now takes care of the kids, so she does not get to see them.

She has been in three different multivehicle car accidents and as a result injured 6 different vertebrae. She has been working through physical therapy and wants to return to work but her doctor has not cleared her.

Pam lives in Clay county and there are very few resources for residents to financially help them. DESC is the only Duval county agency that will provide financial assistance to Clay county residents. Pam’s landlord is willing to work with her until she can work again as long as she keeps up with the electric bills.
