Thanks to our generous donors who participated in The Great Electric Emergency, DESC was able to purchase a Whirlpool 17.7 cubic feet freezerless refrigerator and a Whirlpool 17.7 cubic feet upright freezer to store more fresh produce for clients. One of our volunteers, Judy Davis, was able to garner a donation of another Whirlpool upright freezer.
As a result of our increased storage capacity and partnership with Feeding Northeast Florida, we are now able to provide fresh eggs to our clients. This is a valuable, nutritional food for those in need.
The challenge?
We need egg cartons to safely place the eggs in while they are kept cool in the refrigerator and when we distribute them to clients.
“The egg cartons are wonderful because the cartons provide a safe and convenient way for the clients to transport the eggs home,” Beth Hood said. “We usually receive the eggs in big cases and the cartons allow us to package into the smaller sizes for easy storage and distribution.”
Egg cartons can be dropped off Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the exception of Friday when we close at 4:00 p.m.
